The Lonely Promise of the Dawning Day

The Lonely Promise of the Dawning Day

Darkness falls like a black orchid blooming
Celestial beauty graces the night sky
As a cool wind blows across a lonely landscape
Rattling tree branches like dice made of bone

A lone wolf howls a haunting dirge
When he finds his missing mate
Her untamed heart stilled by the sting of a farmers bullet
A bed of amber colored leaves frame her once vibrant body
Natures colorful goodbye to a wild and precious soul

Lonesome is the howl that greets the full moon
As water filled eyes linger on his mate one…last…time
Hanging his head he slowly slinks away
To meet the lonely promise of the dawning day

Simple, I like the sad, dark, raw and ones with reality- as its essence. It has all of that!!
